Dermot Carty

April 12th 1958 - September 22nd 2023

“It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of our friend and co-worker Dermot Carty who passed away on Friday September 22nd.

Dermot took great pride in working for Adena Springs in the capacity of Director of Sales and Bloodstock Consultant for the farm.

His association with the Stronach family goes back over 30 years.

Dermot was instrumental in the purchase of El Prado - who went on to sire Kitten’s Joy, Medaglia D’Oro and Artie Schiller, to name but a few.

Other notable stallions he purchased include Sligo Bay and North Light.

He was passionate about breeding and racing in Ontario and recommending matings for client’s mares - especially if the clients were new to the breeding business.

In addition to his roles at Adena Springs, Dermot served as a Director of the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society until May this year.

Dermot will be emormously missed by us all and his passing is a huge loss to the breeding industry in Ontario”.
